ME3 Lim Ngee Cheng, Lewis
Principal

ME3 Lim enlisted in the SAF in 2011. Under the Military Domain Expertise Scheme (MDES) Study Award, ME3 Lim graduated from the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts with a Diploma in Music under the tutelage of Gao Jian.
In 2017, ME3 Lim landed a coveted spot in the Asian Youth Orchestra World Tour, representing Singapore and having the opportunity to perform across Asia, the United States and Europe. He has also performed with multiple orchestras and ensembles such as the Singapore Symphony Orchestra, Metropolitan Festival Orchestra, The Philharmonic Orchestra Singapore, Orchestra of The Music Makers, Musicians’ Initiative, Orchestra Collective, and West Winds.

ME2 Shen Longguang, Christopher
Associate Principal

ME2 Shen enlisted in the SAF in 2011. He is a recipient of the Hamish Dyer Young Musicians Scholarship and holds a Bachelor of Music (Honours) degree conferred by the Royal College of Music.
ME2 Shen studied with renowned musicians including Han Chang Chou and Gao Jian from the Singapore Symphony Orchestra, Simon Rayner from the Royal Opera House (London), and Froydis Ree Wekre at the Weimarer Meisterkurs. He has also participated in notable masterclasses with Nigel Black and Stefan Dhor.
Prior to his undergraduate studies, ME2 Shen performed with the Singapore National Youth Orchestra at the 10th Italy International Music Festival and the Aberdeen International Youth Festival (Scotland) in 2008 and 2011 respectively. He has also competed internationally with various ensembles that won several awards.
ME2 Shen also performs with the Singapore Symphony Orchestra, The Philharmonic Orchestra, New Opera Singapore, the Orchestra of the Music Makers, the Singapore Lyric Opera, and the Sichuan Symphony Orchestra.
ME2 Shen also serves as Musicians' Engagement Manager and Instrument Stores Coordinator.

ME2 Dax Wilson Liang Qingxiang
Chief Composer/Arranger

Enlisted in 2012, ME2 Liang heads the Music Composition & Arrangement Office (MCAO) as Chief Composer/Arranger of the SAF Band. His music has received acclaimed performances in Asia, Europe, the United Kingdom, and the United States. His arrangements of national songs, local folk tunes, and original works—collectively titled “The Lion City” series—have reached an international audience, and have been programmed in prestigious military tattoos and festivals such as the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo, the Virginia International Tattoo, and the Musikfest der Bundeswehr.
Locally, ME2 Liang has received commissions from the Singapore Symphony Orchestra and the Ministry of Education. He has also written music for major state events such as the National Day Parade since 2015, besides inaugurating works into the official SAF Ceremonial Music repertoire (e.g. the “Digital and Intelligence Service March” and “The SAF Dream”), and leading the orchestration revision project for the 2022 Wind Band Edition of Majulah Singapura.
A graduate of the National University of Singapore, ME2 Liang holds a Master of Music Leadership (MMusL) from the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music, where his capstone research proposed strategic frameworks for composer development, repertoire expansion and cultural stewardship, contributing to broader discourse on institutional leadership and artistic sustainability in Singapore. In 2026, he graduated from the 17/26 Joint Leadership Course (JLC) with a Certificate of Distinction for placing among the top 10% of a 158-member cohort.
ME2 Liang also holds a Licentiate Diploma in Horn Performance with Distinction from Trinity College London.
