Percussion

Enlisted in 2012, ME2 Lim holds a Bachelor of Music (First Class Honours) conferred by the Royal College of Music.

He studied under renowned timpanist/percussionists from the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Royal Opera House, BBC Symphony Orchestra, and Singapore Symphony Orchestra.

Prior to his career in the SAF Band, ME2 Lim represented Singapore on the world stage, performing with the Singapore National Youth Orchestra at the 2012 Young Euro Classic in Berlin. He also played a pivotal role in the Singapore Wind Symphony Percussion Ensemble, clinching Gold with Distinction (1st Division) in 2013 and Gold award (World/Open Division) in 2017 at the World Music Contest in Kerkrade, Netherlands.

Apart from the SAF Band, ME2 Lim has performed with the Singapore Symphony Orchestra on numerous occasions and is actively freelancing as the Principal Timpanist with both the Metropolitan Festival Orchestra and Orchestra of the Music Makers.

ME2 Lim also serves as Deputy Programming Team Manager and Instructor (Performance).

ME2 Yam enlisted in the SAF in 2017. He first developed an interest in percussion through school bands, which led him to pursue formal training under Tan Loke Chuah.

Alongside his training in concert percussion, ME2 Yam specialises in the drum kit, having received lessons from Tama Goh, Erik Hargrove, and Aaron James Lee, all of whom further shaped his approach and versatility across both concert and popular music settings.

ME2 Yam has also made concert appearances with various groups including the Orchestra of the Music Makers, Musicians’ Initiative, the Singapore Wind Symphony Percussion Ensemble, the Braddell Heights Symphony Orchestra, and the Singapore National Youth Chinese Orchestra. His work on the drum kit has also led to contributions in recordings and local productions, collaborating with local artists such as Dick Lee and Jeremy Monteiro.

ME2 Yam also serves as Building Management Team Manager and Publicity Executive (Creative Design).
