ME2 Tan Yue Yuan
Principal

Enlisted in 2013, ME2 Tan holds a Fellowship Diploma from the Trinity College of London.
His principal teachers include Yoko Liu of the Singapore Symphony Orchestra and Gonzalo Esteban of the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra. He has previously served as Instructor of the SAF Band Training Wing (2015-2017) and Associate Principal Clarinet (2018). As Assistant Composer/Arranger, ME2 Tan has written numerous arrangements for the SAF Central Band.
ME2 Tan also serves as Chief Librarian and Programming Secretariat.

ME2 Benjamin Wong Kheng Mun
Co-Principal

ME2 Wong re-enlisted in 2023 with a Master of Arts in the Humanities from the University of Chicago and a Master of Music from King’s College London, after having obtained his Bachelor of Music (Hons) degree from the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music.
ME2 Wong performs regularly with homegrown ensembles such as the Metropolitan Festival Orchestra, the Orchestra of the Music Makers, The Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Wayfarer Sinfonietta. He is also an avid educator in the arts. His teaching experience includes serving as a research fellow at the University of Chicago, where his work on nineteenth-century musical theatre was supported by the Nicholson Graduate Digital Archival Research Grant. Prior to joining the SAF Central Band, he managed student development and co-curricular learning programmes for the undergraduate and postgraduate residential community at the Nanyang Technological University.
ME2 Wong also serves as Programming Specialist, Publicity Team Manager, and leads the SAF Central Band Clarinet Ensemble (IHclars).

ME2 Zulhafeez Bin Zainuri
Associate Principal

Re-enlisted in 2020, ME2 Zulhafeez graduated from the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire with a Bachelor of Music (Hons) degree in 2019. An alumnus of the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts, he has studied with Tang Xiao Ping, Anna Hashimoto, Douglas Mitchell, Sally Harrop, and Oliver Janes.
Before joining the SAF Central Band, ME2 Zulhafeez played in various wind bands in Singapore such as the Philharmonic Youth Winds and Orchestra Collective, and is co-founder of the Neo Chalumeau Consort. Aside, he has performed with the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire Symphony and Repertoire Orchestras and the Thallein Ensemble. He is also a member of Inventus Wind Quintet, which has performed numerous concerts in the United Kingdom besides participating in music festivals at Chipping Campden, Leeds College of Music, and Leamington Spa. Inventus was finalist of the Birmingham Chamber Music Society Sylvia Cleaver Prize competition in 2016 and were winners of the 2018 Leamington Music Prize. In 2019, they launched a music album that comprises their best performances through the years.
ME2 Zulhafeez also serves as Event Manager.
