ME5 Wang joined the SAF in 2011 and served as Associate Principal Euphonium of the SAF Central Band. In 2012, he was awarded a full scholarship to the Royal Marines School of Music in Portsmouth, United Kingdom.

A recipient of the Distinguished Star, the Bandmasters' Course Conducting Prize, and the Baldwin's Award for Best Conductor, ME5 Wang emerged top of his class and went on to become the first international student to attain Director of Music qualification from His Majesty's Royal Marines Band Service. He graduated from the University of Plymouth (Bachelor of Music, First Class Honours) and the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music (Master of Music). In 2015, ME5 Wang attained the Fellowship of the Royal Schools of Music.

As a guest conductor, ME5 Wang has made appearances in various countries including Finland, Germany, Malaysia, Portugal, the People's Republic of China, South Korea and the United Kingdom. In 2022, ME5 Wang was selected to assist Finnish maestro, Jukka-Pekka Saraste, and conducted the LEAD Symphony Orchestra in Helsinki, Lahti and Tampere. ME5 Wang is also highly sought after as a clinician and had been featured at various music festivals, including the AMIS European Honour Band Festival, the IASAS Music Convention, the KIMEA National Honour Festival, the Singapore American School Music Convention, WBAS Youth Band Festival and the Asia Arts Festival. He has led several conducting and music leadership workshops for the Ministry of Education and the International Brass Band Summer School.

ME5 Wang served as Director of Music of the SAF Ceremonial Band and Chief Instructor, before assuming directorship of the SAF Central Band on 1 May 2022. In addition to his role in the SAF, ME5 Wang serves as the Music Director of the Lion City Brass Band and SEIRA, Associate Conductor of the Temasek Polytechnic Band, as well as a board member of the Wind Bands Association of Singapore. ME5 Wang also serves as an Honorary Aide-de-Camp to the President of Singapore.
