Official usage protocols
For the access and use of the Singapore Armed Forces Ceremonial Music.
The Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) Ceremonial Music—including but not limited to official regimental marches, processional pieces, fanfares, and other works of ceremonial significance, through the mediums of published scores and audio recordings (“the Materials”)—are provided by the SAF Band to support formal ceremonial use by educational institutions, military organisations, and recognised entities requiring such resources for official parade rehearsals and similar purposes.
By accessing, downloading, or using the Materials in any form, users are deemed to have read, understood, and agreed to abide fully by the following terms and conditions:
1. Authorised Use
The Materials are intended solely for appropriate ceremonial and educational use, such as:
Parade rehearsals.
Official ceremonies and events (e.g. to commemorate National Service, Total Defence, the SAF or events of national significance).
Music education relating to ceremonial traditions.
When performed, the Materials must be used appropriately in accordance with their designated service:
For example, the Singapore Infantry Regiment March should not be used to represent the Republic of Singapore Air Force nor the National Cadet Corps Air Contingent.
The Materials must be performed with dignity and respect:
SAF service personnel are encouraged to stand at attention as a mark of respect when the official regimental march of their service is performed.
Use of the Materials for commercial, entertainment, or casual purposes is strictly prohibited.
2. Preservation of Sanctity and Quality
Users must ensure that the Materials are not used in any context that diminishes their ceremonial dignity, historical significance, and symbolic value.
Performances must maintain the musical integrity of the original compositions.
Re-arrangements, modifications, or adaptations of the scores or recordings without prior written approval from the SAF Band are not permitted.
3. Distribution and Sharing
Redistribution of the Materials beyond immediate operational or educational needs is strictly controlled. Users may share the Materials within their own institution for authorised purposes but may not publicly re-upload or host them elsewhere, in whole or in part.
Users must refer interested parties directly to the SAF Band for access.
4. Prohibited Uses
Use of the Materials in any non-ceremonial or facetious context (including, but not limited to, entertainment, parody, or advertising) is expressly forbidden.
The Materials must not be used in any manner that may compromise the dignity or reputation of the SAF and the SAF Band.
5. Acknowledgement of Ownership
The Materials remain the intellectual property of the SAF Band.
All users must acknowledge the SAF Band as the official source when referencing or using the Materials publicly.
6. Right to Revoke Access
The SAF Band reserves the right to revoke usage rights at any time, and to take necessary actions against misuse, including legal recourse if required.
7. Modifications to Terms
The terms and conditions herein may be updated periodically. Continued use of the Materials constitutes acceptance of any revisions.
By using or accessing the SAF Ceremonial Music, you agree to respect and uphold the dignity, tradition, and ceremonial importance these marches represent.
