About the programme
This hybrid National Education and Arts Education initiative offers a 30 to 45-minute concert experience featuring virtuosic instrumental solos, works by renowned Singaporean composers, popular favourites, and iconic SAF marches synonymous with our National Day Parades.
Beyond nurturing an appreciation for music and the performing arts, this programme is structured to support nation-building narratives and arts appreciation objectives, using music as a medium to foster students' understanding of Singapore's history, heritage, and collective identity.
Participatory elements, such as an opportunity to conduct the SAF Central Band, will further enrich the experience. Schools are encouraged as well to integrate their pledge-taking ceremony and national anthem within the programme's finale.
Learning objectives
Students will gain insights into the strategic role of music in nation-building, and the diplomatic and representational functions of the SAF Central Band in defence relations and cultural outreach.
Through exposure to a curated repertoire spanning diverse musical genres and works by Singaporean composers, students will develop a more sophisticated understanding of music as both an artistic discipline and a vehicle for cultural identity and national representation.
